Frequently Asked Questions

Can I write from bed, in my pajamas?

You can write from anywhere you have an Internet connection. You will often see other writers in their pajamas. We support whatever makes you the most comfortable. (That said, if you're most comfortable in your birthday suit, we would ask that you keep your camera off so as not to distract others from their writing.)

Is this a religous thing?

Nope. The meditations at A Very Important Meeting are secular mindfulness meditations. We espouse no belief system. All religions are welcome.

I am interested in leading a meeting. How can I do that?

Great! We are always looking for new teachers to add to our roster. Please contact us and tell us a little about yourself. We are less concerned with publications and awards and more interested in your experience as a writer and a meditator.

Can I join late?

We're happy to have you, whenever you can jump in. That said, the system we've set up won't allow you to reserve a spot in a class that has already started. You will need to reserve your spot ahead of time. But if you're running late when the meeting rolls around, please don't hesitate to log on.

I don't see a meeting that works for my schedule, can I suggest a time/day that works for me?

Absolutely. We've set up a form for just this purpose. Click here to let us know what works best for you. The next time we add a meeting, we will take all suggestions into account. (and thanks for your input!)

I'm just starting out as a writer. Is this the right place for me?

Absolutely! At A Very Important Meeting you will meet writers of all levels and experience. Some have an impressive collection of by-lines and others are just starting out. No matter where you are on your own path as a writer, we're excited to have you join.
