A few years ago, there was a meme of a stick-figure person in a pink outfit, one fist raised high, the other holding a broom. Crazed look in their eyes, they shout their intention to accomplish "all the things!" That's kind of how I feel about stating my writing goals. Last year I made a truly unachievable list of goals and was not at all surprised not to achieve them. This year's goals feel more doable. I'm deep in a draft of a memoir I've been working on for years. I've already submitted it for publication once though it wasn't ready. This year, I'd like to get it closer to done. Hopefully that means submitting it, if only to some trusted readers. As of now, I've broken that goal into several 10,000-word deadlines in order to tackle what otherwise feels monumental, so that I'm always moving toward something tangible. I'm also excited about an essay I'm working on, and I'd like to send that out by the end of the month. It's nice to have a short-term goal! Apart from that, I want to continue to strengthen my writing practice through routinely showing up for myself and my community, which you've all just become a part of. Thank you for having me!

Great goals Nicole! Having incremental steps helps a lot (at least, in my experience). So glad to have here as part of the AVIM community! Keep us posted on how it goes as the year progresses.
