Ordained as a Zen monk in 2009, Matthew has since left monastic life and now adapts his meditation practice to daily life in New York City.
In addition to writing fiction, he has recently worked for the Estate of David Rubin, adapting his works for the silver and small screens. Matthew has also edited over two hundred book-length manuscripts, including novels and creative nonfiction, as well as many in the academic and reference fields.
When he needs a break from words, he practices aikido, plays chess, and helps his ten-year-old refine a devastating circle changeup.
